When two big movies release together, it always creates excitement, tension, and comparisons. This time the clash happened between Shivakarthikeyan’s Tamil film Madharaasi and Tiger Shroff’s Hindi action thriller Baaghi 4. Both films released on 5th September 2025, and both had their own fan base, hype, and expectations. But after three days, the numbers show a clear winner, at least in the opening weekend.
Let us take a close look at how Madharaasi and Baaghi 4 performed, what audiences are saying, and why one film is clearly ahead.
Madharaasi Strong from Day 1
Shivakarthikeyan is already a huge name in Tamil cinema. His fans expected a mass entertainer, and that’s exactly what Madharaasi delivered. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the film also stars Vidyut Jammwal in an important role. Interestingly, Murugadoss’s previous film Sikandar had flopped badly, but with Madharaasi, he has made a strong comeback.
The movie had an explosive opening, collecting ₹13.65 crore on Day 1. This figure itself was higher than Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4. On Day 2, the film remained steady with ₹12.1 crore, proving strong word of mouth. By the end of two days, the makers announced that Madharaasi had already crossed ₹50 crore worldwide.
Now comes Day 3. Early numbers suggest the film has already crossed ₹6 crore by afternoon shows, and by the end of the day, it may easily reach ₹10–11 crore in India net collections. This would take its three-day India total to around ₹35–36 crore, which is massive for a regional film clashing with a Bollywood biggie.
Baaghi 4 Struggles Despite Action
On the other hand, Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 entered with big expectations. The film had Tiger in the lead, supported by Sanjay Dutt as the villain, along with Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Sandhu. Directed by A. Harsha, the film is full of high-octane action sequences, stylish fights, and emotional drama.
Day 1 was good, with collections of ₹12 crore in India. On Day 2, the film managed ₹9.25 crore, showing a slight dip but still respectable. However, Day 3 was disappointing. Early reports suggest the film collected only ₹1.52 crore, which is very low compared to the expectations.
This brings the three-day total of Baaghi 4 in India to around ₹22.52 crore, while worldwide it has touched ₹28.5 crore. Though the film had a wider release compared to Madharaasi, it is not able to maintain momentum.
Why Madharaasi is Ahead of Baaghi 4
The numbers tell a very interesting story. Madharaasi is ahead in India net collections as well as worldwide earnings despite being a Tamil film competing with a Hindi action franchise. There are a few strong reasons behind this:
- Local Star Power – Shivakarthikeyan enjoys a strong fan base in Tamil Nadu and other South states. His fans made sure the film opened big.
- Positive Reviews – Critics and audiences are praising the storyline, performances, and music. Unlike many action films, Madharaasi has a strong emotional base.
- Freshness – The movie feels fresh in concept and execution, while Baaghi 4 is seen by some as a repeat of earlier action films.
- Word of Mouth – While Madharaasi is growing with each day, Baaghi 4 is slowing down quickly, especially after Day 2.
Baaghi 4 vs Baaghi Franchise
Fans are also comparing Baaghi 4 with Tiger’s earlier films. The first Baaghi was a superhit, Baaghi 2 was a blockbuster, while Baaghi 3 suffered due to the pandemic. Now, Baaghi 4 had the chance to revive the franchise. But the slow collections on Day 3 raise doubts about its long-term box office journey.
In fact, Tiger’s earlier film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan had collected ₹16.05 crore on Day 1, higher than Baaghi 4. But that film crashed later. The pattern seems to repeat again with Baaghi 4, as it is unable to hold strongly beyond the opening.
Madharaasi vs Baaghi 4: The Verdict So Far
So, who is winning this clash? The answer is clear – Madharaasi.
- In three days, Madharaasi has collected around ₹35–36 crore India net, while Baaghi 4 has only managed ₹22.52 crore India net.
- In worldwide collections, Madharaasi crossed ₹50 crore in two days, while Baaghi 4 is at ₹28.5 crore in three days.
- Audience response is also in favor of Madharaasi. The film is running with houseful shows in many Tamil Nadu cities, while Baaghi 4 is already showing drops in some Hindi belts.
My thoughts on Madrasi vs Baaghi 4
It is not every day that a Tamil film overshadows a Bollywood franchise in a direct clash. Madharaasi has done exactly that. The magic of Shivakarthikeyan and the comeback of A.R. Murugadoss have worked wonders. Audiences are enjoying the film and spreading positive word of mouth.
Baaghi 4, on the other hand, feels like a missed opportunity. Tiger Shroff still delivers powerful action, Sanjay Dutt still looks menacing, but the weak hold after Day 2 shows that the film is not clicking as expected.
The clash of Madharaasi vs Baaghi 4 proves once again that good content and strong local connect can beat even the biggest franchise. While Baaghi 4 may still recover some ground in the coming days, the weekend crown clearly belongs to Madharaasi.
