Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh’s latest film ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is facing a tough time at the box office. The film was expected to perform strongly, especially because the first part released in 2019 had done very well. But the sequel is struggling to maintain its momentum. Meanwhile, Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Haq’ is facing direct competition from Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘The Girlfriend’, which is also affecting its earnings.
‘De De Pyaar De 2’: Slow Box Office Performance
‘De De Pyaar De 2’, directed by Anshul Sharma, stars Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, R. Madhavan, Ishita Dutta, Meezaan Jafri, Javed Jaffrey, and Gautami Kapoor. The cast has impressed the audience with their performances and chemistry, but the film’s earnings are not matching expectations.
The movie opened with ₹8.75 crore, thanks to strong advance bookings. It also showed good growth on Saturday and Sunday. But the weekday numbers have dropped sharply. According to early box office reports, the film earned only ₹3.50 crore on Wednesday, which is a significant fall.
The film is made on a budget of around ₹150 crore, so the current pace is far from enough. Even after several days, the domestic collection is just ₹47.75 crore, not even close to the half-way mark of its budget. The first part of this franchise had collected ₹143.9 crore worldwide, but matching that number seems very difficult for the sequel at this stage.
Worldwide Collection of ‘De De Pyaar De 2’
In five days, the film has earned ₹68.50 crore worldwide. Out of this, around ₹15.75 crore has come from overseas markets. With Wednesday’s earnings added, the worldwide total is expected to cross ₹72 crore, but the film still has a long journey ahead to recover its cost.
‘Haq’: A Bold Story With Moderate Earnings
Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam’s film ‘Haq’ is based on the real-life 1985 Shah Bano case. The movie tells the story of Shazia Bano (Yami Gautam), who marries for love but later faces humiliation when her husband brings his former girlfriend home as a second wife. Unable to accept this, she files a case against him with the support of her lawyer, Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi). The film highlights the struggle women face in marriage, divorce, and the fight for dignity and rights.
The film was made on a smaller budget of around ₹25–30 crore. On its 13th day (Wednesday), ‘Haq’ collected ₹35 lakh, taking its total domestic collection to ₹18.10 crore.
Worldwide, the film has earned ₹26.50 crore in 12 days, and the total is expected to cross ₹27 crore with the latest numbers.
‘The Girlfriend’: Rashmika Competes Strongly
Rashmika Mandanna’s emotional drama ‘The Girlfriend’ is also performing steadily. The story revolves around Bhuma (Rashmika), who is trapped in a suffocating relationship with her boyfriend Vikram (Dikshith Shetty). As trust turns into doubt and love turns into control, Bhuma finally decides to walk out of the toxic relationship. The film explores modern-day relationship issues and emotional conflicts.
On Wednesday, the film collected ₹29 lakh, and its total earnings have now reached ₹16.64 crore.
three movies are fighting
- ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is struggling despite a strong cast and big budget. The weekday drop is a major concern.
- ‘Haq’ is holding steady, but its earnings are limited due to strong competition.
- ‘The Girlfriend’ continues to give tough competition to both films with consistent collections.
All three movies are fighting for audience attention, but only time will tell which one sustains the momentum in the coming days.
